Stop Existing

Launching out on your own can be one of the most scary and difficult things you will ever do. Leaving the comfort, safety and security of your current situation is not easy. Staying where you are is easy—it’s soul-sucking and depressing, but it’s easy. On the other hand, launching out on your own can be the most rewarding and exciting blessing you will ever experience. Too many people in this world are simply existing. They’re not living up to their God given potential because of fear. Fear of what others might say, and fear that they may fail.

So what? Go ahead and fail. Failing is one of the greatest teachers in this life. Some of the most accomplished and recognized people in history started off as failures. You’ll never know what could have been unless you try. I would rather fail a dozen times, and eventually find out where I belong, than remain in a comfortable and safe place that robs me of all my joy and a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

Risk isn’t a blind decision. It’s calculated. It’s prayerful and it’s intentional. I’ve had to make some pretty tough decisions in my life. I’ve had to leave some great people and places behind. Buuut…if I hadn’t, I never would have been where I am today. I’ve never been happier or blessed. Hard working people pay the bills and take care of their families, but it’s the dreamers that change the world! What dream or idea has God given you? Don’t be afraid. Boldly go where God has called you to go, and I promise you, you’ll never look back.

Joshua 1:3-9 has been my life verse. It’s an incredible reminder of God’s promise to always be with us, even in the midst of change.

I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:3-9
