2018 is coming to an end and 2019 is just around the corner. Some people love this time of the year because it presents an opportunity for new beginnings and a fresh start, but—let’s be honest—most people won’t try or do anything new. They will continue doing the same old things in 2019 that they were doing in 2018. Why? Why will they keep living a dissatisfied life or working at an unfulfilling job? Because…it’s comfortable, it’s safe, and it’s easy. All of these things are true, but…it’s boring, mentally frustrating and it can suck the joy out of life.
What’s your excuse for not doing what you really want to do in 2019? Some people are afraid. Afraid of the unknown, afraid of what others might say. Reality check: people will talk about you whether you step out into something new or not, so you may as well go for it! Fear can be both paralyzing and polarizing. Are you afraid that you might fail? So what!? Really…so what!? The only thing worse than failure is regret. Plus, it’s only a failure if you don’t learn from the experience. Learning what you’re not good at is just as important as knowing what you are good at. The only way to figure that out is to try.
2018 has been an incredible year for me. I travelled into parts of the world and preached in places I had never been to before. I launched a new ministry initiative called the “Christian Research Group” (CRG). I wrote and released my third book, “Story in the Stars”. I was given new radio and TV opportunities. But…it all happened because I dared to dream, because I chose faith over fear. That doesn’t mean I wasn’t afraid; I was! Truth be told, I was more afraid of living out a comfortable, safe and secure existence than I was of stepping out into the unknown and following the dream God had put in my heart.
Don’t let fear rob you of your greatest unknown opportunity. Don’t just exist and take up space on this planet. Choose to live—to truly live. I leave you with the words of the Master: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – John 10:10
